National School Celebration Song

This script provides introductory ideas for each of the musical selections presented on the "Catch The Spirit!" CD. The entire script provides a forty-five-minute program, or each section may be performed separately. The National School Celebration Song introduces the program of patriotic music with the words "Today, we as students unite to say we've gathered to celebrate our freedom, Hooray!" (Lines are provided for speakers' names.)

________ The Stars and Stripes, the best-known symbol of the United States of America, represents courage, purity, and justice. President Woodrow Wilson said, "The things the flag stands for were created by the experiences of a people. Everything it stands for was written by their lives."

________ An everyday sight to most Americans, the flag reminds us of those who have gone before, and symbolizes our hope for the future. Each bright color tells the world that men and women bold and free handed freedom's torch to me.
